The importance of correct dosing
Why do you need an exact dose - there is strong evidence that the increasing worm resistance being found in horses by veterinarians, is caused by the horse receiving an insufficient dose, either by the inaccurate calculation of the weight of the horse, or because the entire dose is not being swallowed. Unless the paste is dispensed onto the rear of the tongue it may remain on the horse's tongue and be dribbled out with saliva. The Dark Bay Universal Dose Bit positions and holds the syringe on the back of the tongue, enabling you to dispense the correct amount of paste directly onto the tongue, from where it is easily swallowed. The bit should be left in position for a few minutes, and the horses head raised to encourage swallowing.
 
     
   
The Universal Dosing Bit

Although paste manufacturers have tried to make worming pastes as palatable as possible, dosing a nervous horse is often time consuming, may be difficult, and can also deliver an uncertain dose.

*Conventional shape
The Dark Bay™ Universal worming bit not only reassures the horse because the bit is a conventional shape, but also uses the original paste manufacturers syringe to deliver the paste onto the horse’s tongue – no decanting – no mess.

*Syringe adapter
The opening in the bit allows the syringe to be positioned through the jaw and onto the tongue. The Dark Bay Universal worming bit adapter ensures that all syringe sizes fit, and are accurately located, from the slimmest to the largest size, including the vitamin/mineral supplements.

*Angled side entry
Designed to position the worming syringe onto the centre back of the tongue, the paste is less likely to be retained in the cheeks, and more easily swallowed.

*Robust materials
The Dark Bay™ Universal worming bit, made from a tough, durable, UV stabilized plastic is robust and easy to clean after use. The webbing halter is washable and durable.
