_ Put a halter and lead rope on the horse.
_ Ensure the horse’s mouth and cheeks are clear of grass or feed.
_ Calculate the worming paste dose according the manufacturers instructions.
_ Establish whether the adapter is needed to hold the size of syringe you are using.
_ Position the Dark Bay™ bit as you would a bridle bit, preferably with the aperture on the right hand side of the head, adjusting strap to correct bridle tension – check that the aperture is inside cheek.
_ Remove the syringe cap, push the syringe fully into position, gently, taking care not to impact the syringe on the horse’s gums. Alternatively for the larger syringes, you can position the syringe into the bit fully, before placing the bit into the horse’s mouth. Because all horses are different, experiment until you find the way your horse feels most comfortable.
_ Dispense the dosage of paste.
_ Leave the bit and syringe (except the slimmest) in position and raise the horse’s head to encourage swallowing for a minute or two.
_ Remove the syringe and/or bridle.
_ Wash and thoroughly dry before replacing in the resealable bag for future use.
This bit is a suitable size for larger ponies and horses.
When fitting the bit on a small pony position the cheek piece on the aperture side flush against the pony’s cheek.
